I can pick a Dream Team
Basketball used to be a passion of mine. I got a little discouraged though after Michael Jordan and Scotty Pippin left the Bulls. I wanted to see them play live. The same thing can be said about Michael Jackson though… But I would have gotten back into watching regularly if those responsible were able to pick decent replacements. The fact is that today the Bulls suck balls. I have watched them anyways though and cheered for them. But it is not the same because you pretty much KNOW they are going to lose. There is no hope that game magic usually brings because you know the outcome of the game you are watching.
My issues with the hiring process comes with the team management picking loser players from the draft, or from a trade. Picking a crack-team should be very simple. The problem is that the process is clouded by “wanna-be” experts that are called in with their stupid statistics and they ignore the common sense. I say common sense because to me it IS common sense to be able to pick an excellent player. I can pick 5 guys from Ford Heights, IL that can beat the entire current Chicago Bulls roster, even if the Bulls were to rotate their men in and out. The same thing goes with the Dallas Mavericks who I would say are a GREAT team. The Mavs are missing a couple elements though, and no one including Mark Cuban has picked up on it.
When you select a player, you seriously need to look at his moves. Look at his game thoroughly. Does he follow the norm or play in a format outside the box? I mean, any player can follow a play but it takes a prodigy to see an opening and risk it all. You can train a risky player to follow plays more often, but you cannot train a drone to be risky.
I would say I would appreciate any NBA team to consult with me on drafting players. I can pick a dream team in under 2 weeks that will win the championship in the young team’s first season.
