Can I get a click?
That is the question webmasters ask when they start publishing Google Adsense. But most webmasters new to adsense fail to realize that the ads can be optimized.
A few ways to optimize your google adsense ads are:
- Blend them with your site design.
- Place them where they will be noticed.
- Use the many features.
In order to blend adsense into your design you need to match the ad content with your stylesheet. For example, the background of your ads should match the background of the area on your site that you place them in. The text should look exactly like the text on your page, color, font size, and all. This makes the ads look more like actual content. If a visitor notices something in the ad they are interested in then they click on it and you get credited for the click.
Place them where they are noticed. They should be between articles so that half way through an interesting article, the visitor can see ads and scroll down a little to finish the article. This way you force the reader to notice the ads. You can also use link units under navigations. Make it look kind of like a sub-navigation. These units look more like onsite links rather than ads, and they tend to get clicks because of it.
Use the resources. Google adsense has different features. Not only the ads you see, but they also have a search field you can add to your site. When someone uses the search they can search the site or the internet. Then when they come across content on the search page and click on it you get paid!
Google adsense does not have to look out of place on your website. Ads are a standard these days and allow many websites to survive when offering free content. Websites like MySpace use ads to support their upkeep. Using MySpace is free to the consumer. Blogs also use ads in order to generate revenue. This blog for example does not charge you to read. I do this for free hoping that I would cough up a click here and there and make some ad revenue. It’s also fun to write what you think so it is a win/win.
